"Smart Axes" is the nickname for various
irreverend Intelligent Design Advocates. The name stems from the
fact that Smart Axes tend to be real smart axxes when they debate evolutionary
biologists and geologists on the internet. Also the inspirational
father of the Intelligent Design Movment, Phil Johnson created the concept
of the "Wedge of Truth" which is a strategy to promote Intelligent Design.
An axe is a sharpened wedge, thus an "intelligent design wedge" is a Smart
Axe.
